Zentangle Inspired Art: Tangled Peacock
Sunday, April 17 • 1:00 - 5:00
Oh how fun! Create this colorful and whimsical tangled peacock using watercolor pencils and “dry” colored pencils for shading.
Due to time restraints - registered students will receive this image already drawn - ready to color. This class will be primarily about color techniques.
Supplies:
9” x 12” Hot Press Watercolor Paper (my favorite brand is Fabriano)
Watercolor Pencils (I used a color variety of Derwent Inktense Pencils)
A Water Brush with a fairly small brush tip
“Dry” colored pencils for shading (Any brand)
The “dry” colored pencils need to be similar to the “wet” pencils you choose. For example: If you use a “wet” green watercolor pencil, then you’ll want to find a darker “dry” green for shading, etc.
ALSO: Although the photo doesn’t show it well, I used some “Tinge” Metallic Gold Watercolor Paint (can be purchased at Amazon)
For the bright white accents, I used “Dr. Ph Martin’s Bleed Proof White” (It is a heavy white ink that is perfect for making crisp, white accents on any medium)
ALSO: Although you won’t be ‘drawing’ the peacock, you will be doing some black touch up after coloring. I used two black pens for this: a Black Flair Papermate and a Black Tombow Fudenosuke Brush Pen (similar to a faux calligraphy pen).
